Dust Bowl Magic

Trigger Warning: When I wrote this book, I spent some time fretting about the contents. The story of a modern surgeon returning to the 1930s intrigued me because it presumes that his knowledge of medicine takes things like modern anesthesia and antibiotics for granted. It's not the case that he can culture some mold and make penicillin, plus his situation--time travel--has challenged every preconceived notion he has about how the world works. So how does he feel when faced with dust pneumonia and its tragic toll on the young and the very old?

This is a pretty grim subject to take on in a combination of romance and fantasy, and he is by the bedside to witness the death of a child and later, an old man. So if on page death triggers you please, please don't read this book. If you've preordered it, then return it. I promise I don't want to traumatize anyone. I had a hard story to tell, which, even if it ends with a happily ever after for our heroes, doesn't end well for everyone.
